Common questions

Getting paid faster, answered plainly.

How can I get my clients to pay invoices faster?

The most reliable way is consistent, timely chasing — a polite reminder just before the due date, then a set follow-up cadence after it. Most firms fall behind simply because chasing is nobody's full-time job. Pactis runs a managed AI credit controller that chases every overdue invoice on schedule, every working day, from your own inbox and in your firm's voice, so nothing slips through. Firms typically get paid around 11 days faster.

What is outsourced credit control?

Outsourced credit control means handing your accounts-receivable chasing to an external provider instead of hiring an in-house credit controller. Pactis is a managed, done-for-you version: we set up and run the chasing for you, brief you every morning, and keep a full log of what was sent — you stay in control, we do the work. It's the credit-control function without the £30k-plus hire.

How much does a credit controller cost in the UK?

A full-time in-house credit controller in the UK typically costs £25,000–£35,000 a year plus employer costs like pension, National Insurance and holiday cover. Pactis's managed AI Credit Controller is £495 to build and go live, then £495 a month on a three-month minimum — a fraction of a hire, with no recruitment or cover to worry about.

What is an AI finance director?

An AI finance director is a done-for-you service that gives a small business the forward view a full-time finance director would — a rolling 13-week cashflow forecast, early-warning alerts before cash gets tight, a plain-English weekly brief, and instant answers to 'can I afford this hire or purchase?'. A human reviews it each month. Pactis's AI Finance Director is £750 to set up, then £795 a month.

Is it safe to connect AI to my accounting software?

Yes. Pactis connects with read-only access through your accounting software's own secure login. We never see your password, we only ever look and never touch, and we never move money. A named human is accountable for anything that goes out. The rule we work to is simple: human first, read-only second, AI third.

Which accounting software does Pactis work with?

Xero and QuickBooks Online connect directly. FreeAgent, Sage Business Cloud and others are supported too, and you can even start from just your bank feed. You always connect through the software's own login, so Pactis never handles your credentials.

Will this replace my accountant or my finance team?

No — Pactis is additive. It's the finance hire you can't yet justify, not a replacement for people. Your accountant files your past; Pactis protects your future by keeping cash coming in and giving you a forward view. It handles the chasing and forecasting your team doesn't have time to do.

How quickly can Pactis go live?

Most firms are live within a few working days. Setup is done for you: you connect your accounting software, we configure the chasing cadence and tone to match your firm, run it in supervised mode first so you can see every message before it sends, then switch it on.

Who is Pactis AI for?

UK professional service firms and small businesses — consultancies, law firms, accountancies, agencies, recruiters and architecture practices — that bill by invoice and lose time and cash to late payments and finance admin.
